Resurrected a turn-of-the-century Hercules irrigation motor
some years ago - Same deal. Kicked in circa 200 rpm, out
around 375. Huge flywheel. Carb was a can of gas with a hole 
in it. Intake valve was sucked open, blown shut. Ex valve
operated by cam. Ran great.
Tried like hell, but could'nt interest customer in boost,
nitrous, FI...
