I have a 96 C-3500 Vortech truck available ocassionally, I got one 
of the first Hypotechs, but never have used it.  I hooked it to a 
simulator a few years ago, and did not seem to get any OBD line data
so probably uses another serial pin.  
 Since H-D truck  the label says Fed. OBD not OBD2.  When snapped to 
a snapped-on data has a J1850 data stream and a serial stream.  Also 
this is a multi node OBD bus and I pick up various J2178-4 messages. 
some have limited ability to modify instruments, door locks., trans, 
brakes etc.
