Digital dash and obsolete IC's

It looks like JDR (www.jdr.com) has an LM3914.  I'm pretty sure that
it's the DIP package.  Jameco (www.jameco.com) might have it too. 
Digikey has lots of the PLCC version, but no DIPs it appears. According
to national semiconductors's site, all of the LM3914's are in full
production, including the DIP package.  (Although they list the part
number as LM3914N-1.)

It seems that JDR, Jameco, and Newark have the CA3161.

I've been using the "www.findchips.com" website.  You might give it a
try.
