Pulse Width Modulation. A digital signal where the mark/space ratio convey
information. 50% duty is a square wave.

An advanced control function where the engine torque is reduced if a wheel
slip is detected. You could imagine to tolerate a certain amount of wheel
spin depending on the vehicle speed etc. This was just one example of
'interesting' ECU function. There is many other nice things to do, like a
start line strategy, where the ECU limits the engine speed to the maximum
torque rpm and keep it there until the clutch is fully released, at which
point the limited slip strategy kicks on. Or a gear shift strategy where the
engine torque is temporarly reduced by the ECU, allowing manual gear shifts
at WOT. That sort of things.
