EEC-IV reprograming

Has any one had any experience with the shiftmaster add on PCB.
http://www.eec-tuner.com/ I had been looking into building an interface my
self but cannot find any info on building something like this and my skills
are not in the field of circut board design. The interface seems to be the
same no matter whose "chip" upgrade you look at. The one that Auburn
Performance Equipment uses looks identicle to the shiftmaster with the
execption of the external data cable.
    Any ideas,
