While attendance was limited, it was about right for the available room.
It will happen again..       Hopefully spring 2001, rather then this late,
in the year.

Now onto late breaking news about a DIY Project....
Now, this is not meant to start a thread, and I'm not going to be answering
any questions about it yet.
It's not meant to compete with any of the commercial units.   It's to
solicate (?) EE help on the final outputs.   I know what I want the
interfaces to do, and the guidlines of how it needs to be done, but been
having trouble finding folks that will get beyond the write about it stage.
It is not a lab. grade unit, and only designed for the home tuner, who
understands engine management, and has a **high** level of tuning
experience.
This is strictly stage 2 of 5 before ready for any release of information
(and this is after 2 years of work).
All, I will say is that those that attended, did see, look at, and saw a DIY
WB O2 work.
It was also run while the NTK was working, and while less dampened, read
real close to the NTK unit.
It was run with a diacom on a non oem 730 controlled system, and we did a
few chips based on it's reporting, and the changes lined right up with what
diacom was reporting.   Was a huge aid IMO.
We also ran a couple passes with it in the fast GN, and the numbers all made
sense with what was going on.

At 1500 RPM when looking at it's output with an Oscilloscope was easy to
pick out individual cylinder firing.

New issues based on preliminary data:
To get a *stable* output for human viewing mandates alot of dampening.
I have serious doubts  relating to a WB be used for sole control of WOT AFR
control.
Even if you use accurate monitoring, THE BASICS STILL APPLY
If you can't read a spark plug to begin with, a WB ain't gona save your
bacon for tuning.
What ever filtering will cover the problems with a lean cylinder (unless you
run one per cylinder), and do individual data logging, then you'll need a
SEFI and an individual cylinder injector driver correction to get the
distrubution right in a reliable manner, and you'll still need to read the
plugs to be sure the corection is correction, and still look at them for
detonation signs

I really got that nothing beats face to face interaction, on complex issues.

A new project was born, and probably be a long term one, just as much as the
WB has been, but, there is some intial workings around that if we can get
some people to pull together there may be a really neat item, available.

I'm not going into specifics on either of the above, because too many expert
opinions tend to kill of progress, IMHO.   If you an EE that hasn't
responded to my past pleas, have some time, and would like to freely
contribute to the list, please right me off list.

There are now two more on going projects at CSH, HQ that really might DIY
EFI and offer higher HP, lower emissions, and reliable vehicle performace
available, to all.
Welp just gotta call from Miami Immigration about the **8** drawfs being
detained.  Looks like I might have to fire up a 707/727/747 to get down
there to straighten things out....
