I don't have any firsthand info, but just lately read this article by
Russ Collins which gives his reasoning for the ~80% DC limit.

The claim is that the injector somehow reverts to ~50% of max flow
rate when the DC gets too high... if someone can robustly explain
that to me I'd appreciate it.

The article also has some nice tidbits about spray patterns,
atomization, etc.
