Ignition system for E6S-8

Thanks Jörgen, you gave me a lot of great leads... those M&W units
are looking like my favorite by a wide margin.

Jörgen, you are absolutely right about the Haltech being able to
drive 4 coils. The problem is this: The haltech has 5 output channels (for
both fuel & ignition combined). My ideal setup would be sequential fuel
injection on my 4 cylinder (1 channel per injector) and DFI (1 channel per
waste spark coil). This would require 6 channels, when the unit I have only
offers 5. Additionally, I do not want to use 4 channels to run individual
spark plug coils because I would only be left with one fuel channel.

Therefore the setup I will probably run is this: 2 waste spark ignition
coils (taking two channels) and fuel channels. This will force me to run
phase-sequential, lumping injectors 1 & 4 on one channel and 2 & 3 on
another channel. This will at least allow me to get an injection when the
appropriate cylinders are at TDC, though on the right stroke only half the
time. This will leave me 1 empty channel, but this is the best way I can
come up with to manage my setup.

Thanks again,
James Ballenger

First of all, I am pretty sure that you can drive up to four coils with the
E6S, but it only has two that is marked IGN1 and IGN2, the others have some
other marking. It should be a diagram for this on their site. If you still
want to run waste spark M&W has two channel ignitiors, I think that there
are some kind of cooperation between them and Haltech. All haltech dealers
seem to have their stuff, in sweden with lots of tax the dual ignitor are
US$100.

EMS in Australia, that I buy my stuff from has two channel ignitors for
US$40. Check with www.mdrace.com in Florida if you can't get anything
similar locally, they should have them. www.force-efi.com should also have
something similar, he might be a better choice as he works with Haltech. He
should be able to get you the coils too.
