Any experience with Autronic?

Hi,

I bought an Autronic SMC from Beninca motors, http://www.beninca.com.au. Joe
Beninca patiently helped me decide which options I need. I think that Joe is
still on this list too.

I started the install yesterday and I am almost finished now, that's five
hours work.

I ordered the Autotune option. After consulting with several other autotune
users I have understood that the autotune is a very quick process that
leaves you with a car that is very well tuned. Only accpump settings and
things like that is done manually. According to them 20minutes on the dyno
are all that's needed, now they have even started tuning on the road. The
dyno only complicates things.

After the autotune is finished you can change the target mixture in the
'Open loop table' without needing to run autotune again. In other words it
is a true volymetric efficiency system.

You only need the UEGO controller during the tuning, after that you have no
further use for it. Most UEGO and Bosch LSM based interfaces can be used
with some simple interface circuits. For example a M&W UEGO need a
potentiometer to sync the value seen by the SMC and the value shown by the
UEGO controllers display. The voltage range is the same but Autronic expects
10:1-30:1 = 0-1v and the M&W outputs 10:1-20:1 = 0-1v.

But if you use it without the autotune option one of the features that I
like best with Autronic is that you only use as many load sites as you want.
You are up and running after setting six to eight load sites, from there you
can start adding load sites where you want them.

Closed loop control can be used with an ordinary lambda sensor.

Standard features include internal log memory (3min at 20sps), sequential
operation on up to eight cylinders, individual cylinder mapping, injector
phase mapping, PWM output maps, on/off output maps, user mappable limp home
mode and much more.

I think that the only system that can be compared with Autronic is Motec,
and the price is a bit different...

I only see one downside with Autronic, they can ONLY be run in sequential
mode. In other words a cam sensor or some other type of sync trigger is
always needed.
