Exhaust manifold design is as important on a turbo engine as a normally
aspirated one.
Eg    www.beninca.com.au/turbo_charging.htm
Also the race winning Ford Sierra  Cosworth turbo had a similar design.
In the examples above ,turbo lag is reduced.
