Water Injection

The smaller tanks are usually used to "prime"
sprinkler pumps and smaller well pumps and such.

The larger tanks are for, as you said, home water
supply... so you don't have to wait for water to come
out of the spigot after you turn the handle.

I've never thought of this for water injection, but it
is a great application.  Instant water when the valve
is opened... no waiting for a pump to build pressure.
