sampling a M.A.P. input

My DIY MAP sensor, has a low pass filter (3db/octave) set at 0.5Hz. this removes 
any pulses, yet still gives a good indication of load. I must admit, I'm not sure 
many people understand the operation of the MAP sensor (me included) I seem to be 
re-inventing the wheel !
