Well ... unless you have an engine that violates the laws of physics... what
goes in must come out ;)

I suppose things like blow by might not, but in "newer" engines, it is
recirculated.  And even if blow by doesn't eventually end up in the exhaust
pipe, it represents a rather insignificant quantity when compared to the
main flow so you can probably neglect it.

as there is a formula for finding CFM flow for induction
is there a similar way of finding exhaust gas flow, or for working out the
best pipe sizes ect?
