I had read the paper from SAE: 2000-01-0933
Closed-Loop Control of Spark Advance and
Air-Fuel Ratio in SI Engines Using Cylinder Pressure
They use very good measure equipment we can't afford.
But it brings me a very good concept of Cylinder Press and detonation:
If knock happen, you can read irregulate wavefrom from osiiloscope via every crank angle.
Because knock make pressure at wrong crank angle while right peak pressure should be happen
about 10~20 ATDC.
Wellcome any idea.
Tyson.

Does anyone have any experience with the Optrand
sensors? What sort of data acquisition and processing
are you using? Do you do knock detection/indication
in real time?
As far as the strain gauge plug washer type goes,
someone mentioned that it's a knock sensor and not a
pressure sensor. I don't know if that's really the
case. The strain measured in the washer is an
indication of the pressure in the cylinder, and would
have to be processed to determine if a knock event
took place. Once again, does anyone have direct
experience using this type?
Thanks,
Matt.
