diy-wb lcd update

Nic is putting the final touches on the PCB, and Stephen is making progress with the package design but has a few remaining issues to deal with. The firmware is coming along nicely, but will be missing a few features in the first release. I'm expecting to buy some alpha-test boards in the next week or so.

I didn't get any feedback on the firmware design spec I posted to incoming ( ftp://diy-efi.org/incoming/LCDSPEC.TXT ), so I'm assuming it's all OK (wow, I never got off that easy before!). I could use some help finishing up, so I've divided the remaining work into 3 piles, and have added job qualifications to each item that needs to be done:

Will be done before group buy:
    alpha PCB buy - boards $33 - need 1-2 people who can handle pcb assy and (ideally) pic firmware

    Firmware:
      convertToAF() - C
      dumpLog() -  C
      A/F, volts, counts display routines - C
      Data logging UI - C

Will probably eventually get done, don't hold your breath:
    user interface - C
    back annotate BOM - Excel
    Back annotate schematic - Orcad V9

Probably won't get done unless someone else does it:
   Serial reflash - Pic asm

I'll handle a group buy for the PCBs after we get a couple alpha test units done. It would be a big help for someone else to handle the components buy. We have about 40 people on this list interested, and there are probably some on other lists also. I'm guessing the PCB should be under $5, and parts under $60 including case and fused cigarette lighter plug
for power.

I'd like to state very clearly now that this project (the LCD display hardware design, this particular package design, and the diy-wb lcd firmware) is the property of those who actually performed the work. License is granted for non-commercial non-profit use only. Not $10 profit, not $1 profit, not $0.01 profit. FOR NON_PROFIT USE ONLY!

Oh, yes, Nic wants to impose one more restriction which I think is a great idea:

The PCB design is licensed as pictureware. If you use it please send
me a picture of the unit and assembled PCB at nic at ifoni.com, or by snail
mail.
