WB O2 Sensor Connector Again

If you will look in the engine compartment on the drivers side, you will see
a similar looking connector. It has a different pin configuration. Remove
one of the pins from it and insert it into the passenger side connector and
you are all set. This was fairly easy to do. You need to pop out the white
plastic cover in the plug to access
the pins. By depressing the pin retainer, you can slide out a wire from the
wrong connector and then install it into the other one. The guys from the
junk yard gave me the other connector when I explained why I needed it.
Total cost $6.00.

Well, I visited our local import car junkyard in a quest for finding the
mating connector for the WB O2 sensor connector. It turns out that the
junkyard strips all engines from Honda wrecks to sell as cores for
re-building.........and they take all the engine wiring harness with them
so no exact mating connectors were available. However, as some of you
suggested, there was a similar connector on the passenger fenderwell. This
connector physically mates but is missing one pin. The pin missing is
where the calibrating resistor is molded into the sensor plug. It seems to
me that I can mount a matching resistor directly on the circuit board
instead. My DVM says the molded-in resistor is 11.81 Kohm. I suspect that
a 1% tolerance resistor would be sufficient here. Any comments anyone? Am
I missing something here?
Neil
