Just FYI, the Whipple 1600AX on my 2.5l engine at 7000rpm and 7.5 psig
manifold pressure should require approximately 17hp to drive it (according
to Whipple's compressor maps).

I would suspect that the centrifugal would require slightly less, since it
will create less waste heat in building the same pressure at the same
flow...
