Ah, but a F1 auto is a manual box with electronic selectors. No torque
converter there. paddle shifts are catching on over this side of the
pond, but given that they cost more than my car, I think the best I will
manage is a sequential shifter some day.

And yes, some time I would love to be shown how you set up a regular
auto so that you can balance the car on the throttle through a bend
