I think this was first suggested about 2 years ago. Definitely more
than a year because it got me "trapped" into the DDL (Direct Digital
Lambda) concept.

Not yet finished ... I'm still struggling to get substantial free
time to dedicate to it. A couple of hours a month isn't enough to
make noticeable progress, being "new" to uC programming and circuit
design.

Peter Gargano included space for an ATtiny15 on his PCB... if that's
all you want it to do; to produce a mapped signal, then it should be
comparatively straightforward.
