pwm driver

Hi all,

I want to build an infrared laptimer. The idea is to use a modulated
carrier and two different signals to make a distinction between lap
timing and section timing. I guess the signals can be sine waves with a
different frequency.

I'd like to use the different signals to create two pulses of different
length so I can trigger the timer of the onboard data-logger.

I already have some (high power) ir leds and an ir receiver to
experiment with, all I need is a _simple_ pwm device. A search on the
net only comes up with motor control devices and power control devices
but these are overkill imo (and low frequency).

I know I could do this with a simple controller but I figure there must
be a simple de/modulator pair.

Could someone point me in the right direction please?

Best regards,

Arnaud
