You have to be willing to consider at least one engine a mule.
That's why engine choise can be such an issue. One thing I really like on
the buick engines is that the head gasket is the fuse, so in getting my
limit close, I found that at 28 PSI on pump gas was the limit for the local
gas. Knowing that, I have a rough guide for what is too much, boost wise
(OK timing, and injector wise).
Since it was so high (allowable boost) on the Headgasket R+R used a thinner
one, so I have a tad more CR.
tried experimenting with smoothing the chambers, and misc other stuff so as
long as I stay out of detonation I should be OK <g>...
There is some lee way on finding the absolute limit, with good diagnostics
you can sneek up real close to it (plug reading being considered
diagnostics).
