question about passkey

i recently bought a 89 camaro. one of the previous owners has replaced the 
steering colume with one from a junk yard. and may have at the same time 
wired the starter button in due to a VATS problem. i would like to return 
the system to stock. and was wondering if anyone knew of a way to determine 
the correct resistence for the key. thanks in advance for any help?
