I think what they're referring to is not oxidation of the fuel, but oxidation of the fuel line...

there again, if their fuel line could oxidize, so could (and does) any other rubber line.

Gas oxidizing has a simpler more graphical name

it's called combustion.

Sounds like another spark in an aircraft fuel tank story.
