Short rods tend to yank the air column to get it moving. Long rods tend to suck
gradually and are generally a crutch for bad intake ports. the net effect
depends upon cam timing and intake tract efficiency. 302 Fo^&*%(^&%rds run good
(short rods) because of the combination of parts. 426 Hemis (all Chry) have long
rods and run good because of good heads. most smaller motors and "work" motors
are "long rod".  just another $.02  Tom S
