Strain gauges & Amps are relatively inexpensive, about $20 to build one. The 
hard part is the strain gauge mounting. (Many pressure transducers are made 
by gluing a strain gauge bridge to a slightly flexible diaphragm) Tektronix 
engine analyzers used a pressure transducer to display the combustion 
pressure curve

Is the goal to position the peak of the combustion pressure curve at TDC for 
max power and move the curve so that the most area is after TDC for max eff.?
