One of the reasons might be that using more than 50% of alcohol could
increase your combustion temp instead of decreasing it, pretty much
defeating the whole purpose of WI.

That said, adding more fuel of any kind without a corresponding increase of
air should not give any power gain at all. In WI applications, alcohol is
used as anti-freeze, especially on aircrafts (remember it is pretty cold up
there).
