This is an excellent point that I did have in the back of my head, but I
wasn't quite sure if the heat or pressure dominated. It is very obvious
that even a ceramic coated header is going to considerably reduce the
temperature at the turbine inlet, as well as increase the underhood
temperatures. I have the OEM cast manifold, and I could use that if I just
made an adapter for a T4 flange that included a wastegate port. HKS makes a
cast manifold that has large diameter and larger radius bends in it, as well
as a port for an external wastegate. They are $650 new, but I'm starting to
think I would really like to find a used one now. I was also thinking about
fabing a very short "log style" manifold from schedule 40 elbows, though by
the time I added up the cost to water jet the flanges and all the labor
involved, the HKS manifold started to sound more attractive.

If anybody is interested, here is a picture of a header for a 7M-GTE that
Sound Performance is selling for ~$2200. I am sure no analytical modeling
time went into its design... For that kind of money, I'm not impressed.
Same turbo and wastegate that I will be using though.
