[Diy_efi] Help! (newbie here)

I have downloaded winALDL and built the interface
cable. I have had no success in interfacing. I have
changed the system setup in the control pannel for the
serial port and changed to com3 on the software with
no luck. 
-I'm sure you've all heard this a hundred times so
please reply directly to me if you would!
