When you kick that much oxygen from the air in the exhaust, it creates a very lean condition. This lean condition will cause a situation similar to that of a blow torch and can result in the blades on the turbine melting (burning). This how ever depends on hoy much air you inject. Anothe question is, what flow rate will give y ou the air needed.
You can spool easier by using NOs. Nos kicks in extra fuel and oxygen, then the turbo takes over

A crazy thought just occurred to me - does anyone know if the
following has been tried, and if so with what results:
If a compressed air bottle was plumbed into the exhaust manifold
(pre-turbo) through an electronically controlled valve arranged to give
a (short) injection of HP air into the manifold when the WOT switch is
hit, it should help spool the turbo quickly and give a (false) lean
indication on the lambda sensor which should result in a brief
enrichment - Rats, just remembered - the Lambda is ignored at WOT - Just
a wild thought from someone with no direct experience playing with turbos.
