Bob

I can assure you I DID NOT receive such a message. Plus, I received the email below on the 24th of Jan. and my check was cashed mid Feb., WAY past the time of shutdown indicated in your email copy. If you are the person to contact, please call me at: 1 818 317-0594. The email below does not mention anything about shutting down.

Hi Stuart,

I'm sorry it's taken so long to acknowledge your order; we've made some
changes to EGOR the company recently, basically suspending the taking of
further orders on the integrated hand-held style meters, because I'm
just not up to doing all the hand assembly involved with them anymore,
the machining of the plastic cases, etc. And I didn't want to raise
prices in a big jump to allow farming out the work, so we decided to
take a break from the more time-intensive products. We DO however intend
to continue to make our AFR sensing electronics in module form, like the
product you've ordered, as that requires no milling machine work, and
the hand labor for ole Gepeto (that would be me :) is reduced to
something manageable.

I've logged your headless twinhead module order, along with the sensors
and bungs, and you should be receiving an automated confirmation from
our inventory/order 'bot', listing what you've ordered, your estimated
ship date, and your shipping address of record. When you get that,
please look it over carefully to make sure no typos have crept in, and
report back any errors.

Also, I always enjoy hearing what EGOR's going to be working with
project-wise, so if you get some time and would be willing to share some
details on your intended usage, I'd love to hear about it. Especially in
a college environment, you've probably got some interesting projects in
mind.

It appears some number of people on the original mailing list for this
announcement didn't get the e-mail, so I'm sending it out again. This is
a DUPLICATE, and if you've already received this, there is nothing
changed in what's below, from the original announcement, so you may
safely ignore this, if you did receive it earlier.

To Our Clients, collegues, and friends,

I'm both happy and sad to inform you that EGOR Technology has suspended
all commercial operations as of Monday, January 6, 2003, and will be
entertaining offers for sale of it's AFR intellectual property. Refunds
will be made to those 9-10 of you who remain waiting with orders on
backlog, and have been waiting for either meters or a refund for some
time now.

As many of you know, in the last year my health has been in rapid
decline (diagnosis: genetic predisposition to early coronary artery
disease, complete with fatal heart attack and 3 full cardiac arrests so
far!), and over the last 6 months, I've been progressively unable to
work more than a couple hours at my bench before being exhausted and
breathless. I have at least a couple more surgeries that need doing, but
I've been unable financially (the smaller the company the poorer the
medical insurance...) and time-wise to afford having done. As a result,
shipments have lagged horribly, especially on some of the more
complex models that take Gepeto a good while to build by hand; and the
doctors have increasingly become pretty naggy about me taking care of
the medical issues OR ELSE.

With the shutdown of EGOR Technology, we will of course also be vacating
our commercial building here in Menlo Park. Our phone will likely
continue to work for most of the remaining month, but during that time
I'll be inNout so just keep trying if you don't get thru. E-mail should
continue to work as usual.

I want to thank all of you who've helped make EGOR an enjoyable
experiment over the last 4+ years, and especially to all our clients
who've (for the most part :) been both wonderfully supportive and
contributed enormously to our technical success. It's been a great ride
in the pursuit of "sanuk" (Thai for "having fun"), with EGOR as passage.

Regards,
Gar
