Hi Matt,
I am running EFI on a military air cooled engine. I used a thermistor that
is 2000 ohms at 25 deg. C. It has about the same resistance at 200 deg F as
a GM sensor does at 160 deg F. I suspect that my head is at least 50
degrees cooler than a VW head due to better cooling. I am guessing that the
VW will run ~ 400F.
I epoxied the thermistor into an electrical lug that I put under a head stud
nut. I think CHT is much more representative of warm up needs than oil
temp.
