[Diy_efi] GM TPI fuel pressure regulator

Hello all,

I've got a TPI rebuild kit here that I bought for my Vette until I found the
real source of the problem. Anyhow, the rebuild kit comes with the vacuum
can, the diaphragm and a set of o-rings.

I need an FPR for a project I'm working on and I thought this would be a good
reuse of onhand materials.

The question I have is how the internals of the TPI regulator are made. I
remember when I rebuilt the regulator in my TBI pickup, there was a seat that
the diaphram foot sealed against, but I don't recall there being any o-rings used
inside the regulator proper.

I've got a CNC and some aluminum handy and was just considering milling up a
regulator base and putting some 3/8" fittings on it.

Does the TPI regulator just have a base that it seals down on, or does it have
o-rings internally for sealing?

Also, I don't suppose anyone would have a pointer to the internal dimensions of
the regulator, to determine the depth between the seat and diaphragm foot.

Thanks,

--Perry

BTW, in my search of regulators on Ebay, it looks like at least a couple of companies
are just using TPI diaphagms and milling up a vacuum can with a preload screw.

Those who would give up essential liberty to purchase a little temporary safety
deserve neither liberty or safety. Nor, are they likely to end up with either.
