I was thinking that myself.  Or if MAP doesn't
necessarily change as much as might be expected with
changing VE, you can still figure VE for a certain
throttle opening and RPM, yes?  Of course, then you're
back to having some form of alpha-n in there, so why
not go all the way to alpha-n, I suppose...

Tell me more about throttled volume and how it works. 
I've seen a lot of talk about it recently, and I have
my head wrapped about halfway around the concept of
how it impacts things, but not why.
