Did you find that stock sportbike airboxes were
insufficient to allow MAF operation?

Don't have a manual handy with the Marelli info, but
the Weber/Marelli system found on the 916 and 748 were
strictly alpha-n. I believe the Marelli ones are as
well, but I need to get my hands on some more shop manuals.
