[Diy_efi] Pressure readings perpendicular to airflow

As an aside on this discussion, did some recent experiments, hooking up the=
=20
signal line to the wastegate actuator to a couple of different=20
points. Normally, its connected to a small barb on the compressor scroll=20
housing (TE60) which tends to be a bit teeny. Installing a 5/16" I.D.=20
barb in the section of pipe between the turbo outlet & intercooler gave=20
better response, mainly because the teeny barb in the compressor presented=
=20
a restriction to the airflow in/out of the WG actuator - you also want a=20
large ID fitting into the actuator. Response was better w/ a larger barb=20
elsewhere. Also, cutting the end of the 5/16" tube at a 45=B0 angle &=
 facing=20
it into the airflow gave lessened spikes on sudden pressure increases=20
(shifts & TC lockup), but also a slower return to desired boost after a=20
spike. Airflow *from* the WG back into pipe the was impeded by having to=20
overcome static as well as dynamic pressure. Wound up w/ the 5/16" tube=20
flush w/ the wall of the turbo/IC pipe, gave best overall results.

YMMV, FWIW, 2=A2, etc -

Barry
