I'm at UNC Charlotte.  We used an F2 for several reasons.  The main reason 
is that it is what we already had at the school.  Second reason that we used 
the F2 vs say an F4i is that the F2 is less oversquare...bore is smaller and 
stroke is longer.  Smaller bore gives us a faster burn so we get a higher 
mep for the same mass of traped mixture.  Also the longer stroke  increases 
in cyl turbulence at the same rpm for faster flame propogation.  Honda 
decreased the stroke on the F4 to give it the 15500 redline.  With the 
restriced setup required by the rules, we didn't need to turn 15k.  The F4i 
is far better than the F2 for an unrestricted application, but not for FSAE.
