I'm presuming you mean that nothing is apparently
wrong with the engine, besides the light, but that you
have NOT done factory diagnostics on the wiring haness
and all the sensors.
I believe there are car parts stores that will pull
trouble codes for you for free. Keep in mind that the
trouble code can help you find the problem, but does
not always identify the actual problem outright.
Your problem may or may not be a sensor, and pulling
the codes will be your first step in diagnosing and
repairing the problem.

You may find that is the problem, given the mileage.
Definitely get the codes pulled.
