[Diy_efi] new guy

Hello, I am brand new to this list and pretty impressed with the amount of
knowledge you guys have about microcontrollers and engines. I am a
mechanical engineering student in Winnipeg, Canada who is very interested in
cars, and control systems. Unfortunately because I am in mech eng I have
little knowledge of the world of microcomputers... in fact, it is hard to
find anyone here who is into programming/designing FI systems.

How did you guys get into this stuff? I am going to be looking through the
archives in the next few days, but while I am doing that, does anybody know
of a good place/book to start off with?

I have done a bit of reading about the basic stamp and heard that it may not
be the ideal microcomputer to handle the demamds of a good FI system. What
do you guys work with? Where could I find info on learning about and
programming these?

Whatever advice you guys have would be really appreciated.
