Anyone who can make their own EFI system probably has a well paying job.
Compare that with the time spent making the system, and I think the price of
a $2 part vs. a $20 part is pretty insigificant (assuming of course we
aren't increasing all the parts in the system by 10x).

If you start with capable hardware but don't use it all, more features can
always be added later.
