305 to a 400?  You are in for a major torque fest.  8-)
I went from a 350 and 5.13 gears turning 11.90s
to a 400 with 4.10 gears turning 10.90 ETs.
Same hyd Cam, heads and Vic JR intake.
You will love it.  Just don't rev it too high,
especially if you use the 400's short rods..
My 400 rarely went much over 5,000 RPM.
My burnout was always right at 4500 RPM in 2nd gear.
It lasted two seasons, then, the guy I sold the car to
broke a cylinder on the burnout his 2nd weekend at the track.
You guessed it.  7500 RPM in the water - game over.
Gawd -I loved that engine.  It was like a tractor.
