[Diy_efi] Lurker needs some advice

Hi, everyone!

I've been lurking for about 6 months now, trying to absorb=20
as much info as I could before I got to the point of=20
actually doing my EFI project, which is somewhat differnet=20
from what I've seen from others on here. I've added a MAF=20
TPI setup to my 21' boat with a 350. I've gotten it to the=20
point that it runs, but not very well. Pictures of the=20
whole project are at http://www.demonden.com:8080/boat/ .

I've eliminated all the emission equipment (EGR valve, EGR=20
solenoid, air pump, diverter valve, etc..) since boats=20
don't require it. I also don't have a VSS - these are 2=20
areas that I'm not sure how much TPI systems rely on for=20
A/F calculations.=20

The problems I'm having are:
1. Doesn't like to idle - well, I guess I should say=20
there's no consistency to it. One day it'll idle like a=20
dream, next day it'll idle for about 2 minutes, gradually=20
getting worse until it shuts off. A couple times it's=20
"idled" between 1500-1800.=20

2. Off-idle stumble, for lack of a better term for it.=20
When the throttle is slowly increased, I can hear more air=20
being ingested, but RPM don't increase accordingly. Once=20
it's past 3000 or so RPM, it seems fine. On quick throttle=20
opening, it almost seems like it has normal response=20
except for a little cough when the throttle is first=20
snapped.

Some notes about how it is right now:
1. Timing set to 6 degrees BTDC
2. Attempted to set minimum air a couple times - don't=20
know for sure if I did it right or if I was successful
3. TPS set to .54 volts at idle
4. Scanner is saying air diverter is on
5. Sprayed around the intake/plenum with carb cleaner - no=20
obvious vacuum leaks

I'm sorry if this is a little long or if I haven't=20
provided enough useful info. I've been battling with this=20
for about 2 weeks and decided it was time to seek help.=20
Any and all info is greatly appreciated!

Thanx in advance
Mark
