Not trying to hijack this thread but It leads into something I have been wondering since last year.
In my chevy 350 I am running Comp Cams Magnum roller tip rockers. Not the Pro Magnum roller on the pivot also type. With the 1/2 turn in preset on them that Comp recommends my engine definitely has the "sewing machine" sound to it when reving. I have always wondered how much of that additional noise might be picked up by the Knock Sensor. I am running a '730 and even on mild acceleration I get some knock counts. Any experience out there?
Mike

I never noticed anything from guide plates, but you can usually hear a
bit more noise from roller rockers. I'm not sure why, though. It's not
just me; GM put Crane roller rockers on the LT4 engines, and issued a
service bulletin for dealers to tell customers that the noise was normal.
