Chris
I would suggest a 1227749 ECM for you project.
It's calibration is very well documented and easily altered by "cheap"
editors such as TunerCat and others. This inexpensive modules speed density
strategy was set up for a 2 bar MAP and the VE tables are all easily
modified with TunerCat to work with even higher boost with a 3 or even 4 bar
MAP. It will also be compatible with your existing "EST/bypass" type
ignition system, with excellent timing and boost controller strategies. The
'749 was originally released for the 2.0 turbo Sunbirds but was later chosen
by GM to manage the boosted V6 Typhoons and Syclones in 1991. As you are
computer technology student, perhaps you already have access to the PROM
burners necessary, but I personally can recommend the gear available on
moates.net or tunercat.com
Good Luck
