You sound like me. I turbocharged my 1980 Fiat Spider about 8 years ago
then recently turbocharged a cabrurated 1987 Yugo with a 1500 Fiat engine.

On my L-jet Fiat, I've been told the ECU ignores the signal from the O2
sensor under wide open throttle. But because I can reach boost without even
flooring the accelerator this method doesn't work.
It took me 6 months to figure out that the ECU was leaning the mixture out
under boost.
I found a really easy method. I put a pressure switch between the ECU and O
2 sensor so as soon as I hit boost, the ECU runs blind.
I don't know if this work on a modern fuel injection system. It might start
flashing codes or something.

<P>I have a 1996 Miata and 2003 Protege.? They both have the stock ECU's.?
But because I get bored around the garage they both are turbocharged.? They
both need to run richer under boost.? (wouldn't want?to let?the ECU see
rich why?boosting because as we all know the stock ecu will try and lean
out the mixture).? The stock ecu on the miata stays in closed loop mode
until around 3200 rpm's and the protege is even longer(with even more TPS
movement -like 80%).??with the exception of WOT.?They both have piggy back
fuel and timing controls, but I don't run over 10psi either...Also on the
protege it had 2 cats and 2 O2's.?I had to remove the 1st cat to make room
for the turbo.? I had to move the 2nd O2 behind the 2nd cat so I would not
get a CEL--the first O2 resides in the D/P along with the WBO2(approx
19").?<BR></P>
<P>"I don't think there are any vehicles ever made<BR>that operate in
closed-loop mode while accelerating"<BR></P>
<P>I believe that Later Porsche Turbo's (can't afford one so no clue what
model) always run closed loop including WOT. Obviously not narrow-band O2
targeting stoichiometric- but I thought it was interesting.
<BR><BR></P></DIV>
<P>I have never run without the O2's connected.? So I don't know what would
happen.? But on my 1988 Nissan pulsar it runs fine and the O2 AND TPS is
disconnected...?</P>
