Hey Joel,
IDK about the Chevy unit, and my project is long gone, but I used a Ford
smog pump (from a 460 ci engine that was running two pumps) to
supercharge a Honda 80cc 2-stroke for a while. I used it because it and
some other Ford smog pumps had the CFM rating on a tag on the pump, and
the math worked. Worked better than did my Honda, the fuel pump-less
bare-belted flame-spouting occasionally-leaking beast. I managed to get
to the limits of the tires that were available back in '92 on my budget,
as it would easily burn them off. It definitely gave back what the
raised port took away from the bottom end, although fuel mileage went
out the tailpipe. :^)
BTW, aren't Kohler rods problematic? No personal experience here, just
what the small engine guys I know have said in the past. Might be worth
asking around before pain strikes in the wallet area.
