MAF sensor mods

Seems that everyone prefers the MAP systems to the MAF.  I was wondering if
anyone has taken the MAF and enlarged the size of its case, or put it in a
larger tube, or cut out the fins inside to increase airflow.  I have a
650cfm holley on my car now and thats fine for my 350, so as long as I got
650cfm from that MAF wouldn't it be alright?  I purchased the MAF system
before reading as much as I have now about the two systems, but it seems
like a MAF system could be modified like the MAP for a performance system...

Or am I just trying to justify my purchase?  :)
