I've got a bit of all (except tuna). I use Promedit at times for finding tables.
As far as software, it depends on what i'm doing. Some editors are very good, and some are lacking. If I were working on a specific engine then gme would be a good investment. Working off 3x5 cards for doing tables can really be a pain in the arse. If your just looking to dibble in one ecm then 3x5 cards will work, but if your serious about wanting to try wholesale changes then a editor gets to be handy. If your planning on running an emulator then a programmer is about a have to have. Somewhere along the line ya gotta figure what your time is worth. While they seem expensive they save a ton of hours.
One other item, is getting a hold of the vendor. It's worth a couple calls to see who's answering their e-mail, or talking on the phone.

I have a question for you guys. What program do you use to modify the P4 (165) EPROM calibrations??? I have searched the archives and found references to Promedit, GMEPro, and Tuna.
