The "kickdown cable" is actually a TV Cable on these trannies. If the cable
is disconnected or broken it will fry the tranny. It raises line pressure by
pulling the cable not releasing it.n Impropper adjustment of the TV
(Throttle Valve) cable will cause all kinds of problems with the tranny. The
best way to adjust it is also not in the sevice manual.
The best way to adjust the cable is to light throttle the vehicle to
40ish MPH the slam it to the floor. If it shifts into low gear the cable is
to short. If not shorten it one notch until it does.
