But the software is the difference.  Rewiring the relay provides
constant 12V to the tcc, and only disengages it during WOT.  Imagine
moderate downshifts with tcc locked up, coming to a stop with tcc
applied, climbing steep grades with tcc locked up, putting car into
gear with tcc locked up.  I don't know if the hydraulic controls allow
the last one to happen, but everything will be really bizarre with
almost constant power applied.  If you're short the money for the chip
(and that doesn't bode well for the rest of the swap), find out if you
can run this trans with tcc disconnected and go that route.  You'd
save yourself a world of driveability problems by not wiring the tcc
on 90% of the time.  Even a manual control switch is better than the
reverse relay trick.  That's my $.02 worth.
