Loss of traction at both front & rear during hard accel can be scary.  
More tire helps (to a point).  I have AWD in a Syclone, and can leave the
starting line with 2 psi of boost and get 1.6x 60ft times with the original 
245-50/16 all season Firestones, but If I try to leave with 5 PSI or 
more, it does this AWD "crab-walk" toward the hot dog stand...
Before having the ability to edit the chip, I used to turn the dissy
to get a little more base timing, which really helped sharpen the
throttle response below 2 psi of boost, making it much easier to
fine tune the 60ft times.  Bad side was a few degrees of knock 
retard when it shifted in the next gear under WOT.
